On behalf of the Bauer / Keller joint venture, Keller are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Brackley

 

Purpose of the Role

Senior QS will be responsible for the commercial and contract management of one or more designated geotechnical engineering subcontracts, together with the wider role to support other project and commercial manager.

Build an excellent relationship with the projects team and with the Client through regular communication and intermittent site visits.  A self-disciplined and thoroughly organised approach is required, contract deadlines must be planned and met, whilst contract notifications and applications made.

In addition to contract management, the Senior QS will work with the project finance and procurement teams to ensure regular cost reports are completed and sub-contracts are prepared and operated.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

 

Operations              

NEC3 Contract management and administration on a secured order until 2024.

Support to the Commercial Manager

Provide support to other commercial management teams.

To the extent possible, manage the commercial aspects of the project/s to enable it to be completed on time, within budget and to the correct standards.

Preparation of payment applications and internal cash flow reporting.

Preparation and operation of sub-contracts and supplier agreements.

On-going cost reporting for allocation project/s.

Site visits, assessments and projections for future work.

Regular liaison with the project teams to ensure compensation events or claims are upheld.

Regulation liaison with the Client to ensure excellent relationships are built and maintained, and issues identified and resolved where possible., primarily with the commercial team.

Tracking project performance and data.

Working with the team to collate data.

Analysis of data.

Preparation of forecasts.

Maintaining contract records and correspondence.

Effective administration of contracts and sub-contracts with Clients and Suppliers.

Assist with the negotiation, development and closure of contracts as required.

Submit the weekly cost control report on time – includes a detailed review of the project costings and update the project progress and forecast details.

Finance                  

Assist & prepare (as required) monthly valuations for contract

Assist & prepare (as required) in the valuation of variations claims & defence of contras/counter claims

Monthly commercial reporting of profit, loss to tenders to management.

Debt control.

Agreeing final accounts.

 

Experience/Skills/Qualifications/Personal Attributes

 

Minimum                 

Proven experience as a main or specialist contractor in a commercial role.

IT literate in Excel, Word and accounts packages.

Full UK driving licence.

 

 

Desirable                

Professional Membership of e.g. ICE/RICS.

Prior experience in piling/ground engineering sector.

Quantity Surveying Degree.

 

Personal Attributes  

Self-sufficient, requiring only remote support.

Flexibility to carry out duties not part of the normal remit in the interests of the team.

Team player.

Good time management skills.

Possesses an attention to detail.

Tenacious.

Ability to manage our Contract and supply chain over an 80kM length of project.
