Job Title: Setting Out Engineer
Reports To: General Manager
Purpose of the Role
Purpose of the role is to support Keller with site engineering requirements.
The setting out engineer daily works will include but will not be limited to preparation of site plans, verification of CAD drawings and schedules, choice of instrumentation, setting out activities, as-build reports.
Setting out engineer supports the Keller site team and project manager through efficient use of sites plans, technology and precision instrumentation.
Implement the best practices, procedures and standards for survey processes and to ensure relevant survey criteria are met across all projects.
Success will ultimately be measured by the performance of the survey division, measured through:
Safety records, bottom line profitability of contracts, customer satisfaction, growth and retention, development, satisfaction, quality and innovation.
This personnel provides support to operations manager and project managers. The role is varied and includes interaction with the client and the public.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner.
Provide technical support to engineers, right choice of survey methodology, equipment, software as required.
Liaise with consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project
Maintenance of survey equipment including calibrations, periodical checks.
Ensuring the on-going implementation of effective management controls and assisting with the implementation and on-going development of effective Quality, Environment, Safety and Health systems.
Preparation of Method Statements and Risk Assessments in a productive and timely manner, whilst maintain a vigilant focus on Risk with respect to H&S and commercial aspects.
Maintain excellent customer service through the generation of long-lasting relationships with Clients to encourage profitable repeat business.
Maximising growth and developing new service offerings within the existing contract.
Initiating, encouraging and stimulating innovation in service delivery to maximise both client and business potential.
Ensure the contract performs well through effective management of staff.
Assist other staff to ensure they reach their maximum potential.
Ensure that resources are supplied and utilised in the most cost-effective manner.
Ensuring that a continuous improvement culture is nurtured.
Continue professional development.

Ensuring profit margins are maximised within the contracts.
Support the strategy process and drive delivery of the action plan.
Assist with payment applications.
Ensure company compliance with internal and external standards.
Proven experience in site engineering (dimensional control), site engineering (setting out) and monitoring industries.
Good knowledge of surveying technics (total station, levelling, GPS), best practices, industry standards (surveying, CAD).
Proven experience of working on large infrastructure projects.
Proven knowledge of the current competitors’ strengths and weaknesses.
IT literate: Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Revit.
CSCS Card Holder.
Full UK driving licence.
BEng/MEng or equivalent in Surveying or similar
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Incorporated Engineer / Working towards Professional Membership.
Personal Attributes Good interpersonal skills at all levels.
Ability to operate under pressure.
A good level of numeracy, analytical by nature (attention to detail) and a problem solver.
Can do attitude and flexibility, to be able to carry-out duties not part of the normal remit in the interests of the team.
Decision-making skills and the ability to work independently; highly organised.
This person is required to work with a variety of key personnel on contracts and therefore must be confident and open to new challenges.
